Timbrrr! Best Trick Contest

SATURDAY DECEMBER 28, 2024

If a tree gets jibbed in the woods and no one is around to film it, did they really stick their trick?

TIMBRRR! is a best trick contest and an ode to The Sticks’ humble beginnings when the zone was made up of only a few wooden features. While the FFZ has expanded over the last few seasons, sliding wood rails is more strategy than spectacle given their natural stickiness compared to metal features. Come get tricky with us like the good ole days!

This contest is for Intermediate and Advanced level freestyle skiers and snowboarders and will feature an exclusive wooden rail setup for contestants separate from the public line(s). The contest will be held in a jam format with heats divided by ability level. Within each heat skiers will compete only against other skiers and snowboarders only against other snowboards. Hiking the course is advisable vs. riding the chairlift, given the timeframe, but not required. Spectator areas outside the course will be available for noncompetitors to watch the event.

COMPETITION RULES & JUDGING CRITERIA

RULES OF THE GAME

  • Competitors are required to wear helmets on course during all practice, heats and showdowns.
  • Competitors must attend the competitor meeting at 10:00am and perform a course inspection prior to the start of their Heat.
  • Competitors must complete/sign release agreement prior to the practice.
  • Competitors under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to compete.
  • No inverted tricks are permitted and are grounds for immediate disqualification from this event and possibly future competitions.
  • No using closed features.
  • Misconduct towards others will not be tolerated. Unruly behavior or offensive language will get you ejected from the competition immediately.
  • W.A.C.K. JUDGING

This is a competitor judged event using the W.A.C.K. Judging System. Each category will vote on a standout at the conclusion of their Heat.

Watch: Observe fellow competitors as they ski or ride the features.

Acknowledge: Show support to fellow competitors during the Heat and afterwards as part of selecting a standout.

Consensus: At the end of a Heat, competitors will come together to discuss the tricks that took place within their Heat and determine a standout based on the overall performance of their fellow competitors.

Keep at it: If a consensus for a standout is not reached at the end of a Heat, competitors within that Heat may self-select to enter into a Showdown.

    SHOWDOWN

Each person who chooses to enter the Showdown will have up to 3 attempts at hitting a feature decided upon by the group. Once the 3 attempts have concluded a determination by members of the Heat, who did not participate in the Showdown for Standout will be made based on the performance within the Showdown. If no consensus is reached, the Event Director will make a determination on the overall Standout from both the Heat and Showdown.

All participants are required to review the Freestyle Feature Zone Safety information available at the link below:
